So I thought my recovery period would be a delightful time to try a good ol' DIY.

What I used: - activated charcoal (capsule) + (Elmer's) glue

Why: Pore Cleansing

Where to Buy: GNC; Walmart

Cost: $13

I've seen charcoal floating around quite a bit on my social media feed (People are consuming this stuff & putting it on their faces! šŸ¼šŸ’•)

You'll soon learn I am a šŸ for almost any health & beauty tip 🐹

After being initially drawn by the buzz of it on Instagram, I moseyed over to Pinterest to research it more where I was lead to this YouTube video about this mask.

I was all for it because I have used Elmer's glue as a successful substitute for a pore strip. (Simply apply the glue to an area of clogged pores &/or blackheads; Let dry. Peel off. Sweet & cheap simplicity šŸ’šŸ¤‘) So naturally, I assumed this mysterious charcoal addition would enhance my results.

The highlight of Day 4 of surgical house arrest was sneaking out to buy this magical charcoal 😹 (my family would be so ashamed if they knew I limped my way to the mall, just for some Charcoal šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

As I was mixing the concoction I decided to google the mask for a quick recap and to ensure I did this method properly. (Open your pores with a fresh warm washcloth then apply the mixture to area(s) with clogged pores &/or blackheads [I used gloves, a paper plate, and a plastic knife for easy cleanup and application] *Peel off when dry.)

*Peeling off was a part of the original directions, I had to reroute and wipe + wash off because...

Immediately after applying, I suddenly notice the suggestions for all of the failed/mishap with mask videos 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 Wait, whaaaat??? Suddenly my phone was covered with horrifying glimpses of sad red faces and severely damaged skin!

All from a little glue and charcoal.

So naturally I got the heebie-jeebies and before it could dry, I wiped my face clean with wipes and followed that with a gentle cleanser. (You don't want to irritate your face applying too much at once, but you do want to ensure your face is squeaky clean)

RESULT: it still worked! No skin damage, softer skin, and my pores were cleared out. šŸ˜ŗšŸ‘

Analysis/Suggestions/Disclaimer:

Everyone's skin is different. Peeling glue off alone worked well for me. Peeling the activated charcoal and glue mask may/may not work better depending on your skin. Please be cautious with testing things on your skin. It is suggested to test a small area first before continued use. DIY's are fun to try, but just like anything else have the potential to go awry. Listen to your body. If something does not feel right, wash it off immediately. This post was a mere recap of an individualized experience for entertainment purposes.
